Wedding & Travel Info
General Info:
The Celebration will be over two days, on the 28th is the Ceremony day and on the 29th you are very welcome to stay and relax on the island for a day of swimming, BBQ-ing and being in nature, a classic Swedish midsummer day.
Where:
The wedding ceremony & chill day is taking place on an island in Lake Mälaren just outside of Stockholm. The island is the nature reserve called Hamnskärs Naturreservat and we are the only property on the island, so we will have this oasis to ourselves.
Getting On The Island:
On the 28th, please make your way either from Stockholm (60 mins) or Södertälje (30 mins) to the island. Although Södertälje is closer, you will have a much nicer experience with accommodation in Stockholm before and after the wedding weekend. We would recommend getting a cab to the small port as there is no parking at the port. Two boat trips are going from the port from 11.15 am, and one shortly after that. Please arrive at 11 am as you will need to put on life jackets etc.
Ceremony:
1.00pm - As you all know, we have been married for a number of years so we will be doing a traditional Celtic Handfasting ceremony in the forest.
Food:
We are very grateful to have Hannah Thomas of Herbs and Wilds catering our wedding. She is serving a seasonal vegetarian spread, if you have any allergies then please let us know with the RSVP.
Glamping Accommodation:
You have the option to stay on the island overnight! Yay! We are setting up a large Glamping tent in a meadow with around 30 beds, duvets and pillows. This will be the sanctuary away from the party, far enough from the music so you can sleep. Ear plugs will also be provided. The tent will be split up into rooms of two and three, we ask that you provide a small sum of £56pp if you wish to use the glamping accommodation on the 28th. Please note this accommodation is only available on the evening of the 28th. Please let me know in the RSVP if you will want to stay in the Glamping tent.
Carriages:
Carriages back to the mainland will also be offered, at midnight and at 2am. You will also be able to come back to the island the next day for the chill day at an arranged time.
Dress Code:
We would not advise wearing heals as there is a 5 mins walk through a field to get to the farm and also the ceremony will be in the forest, please wear suitable shoes or simply no shoes at all!
The Chill Day:
On the 29th if you choose to stay over at the farm, or stay in alternative accommodation and come back, you can look forward to the following: swimming in the lake, going kayaking, sunbathing, having a BBQ, walking around the island, and playing games among other things. So bring your wild open heart and maybe some swimmers and a towel.
Please Bring:
Towels
Bug Spray
Pjs if you are Glamping.
Important Info:
Please note we are not including plus one as the venue space is very limited and this is going to be an intimate wedding. Unless we have otherwise stated, the invitation you received is only for you.
This is a nature reserve in dry Swedish summer, so we request and the land owner requests no smoking please.
